The second table established in the Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries (MESS) group collective agreement did not yield any results either.
The employers and the employees came together with the call of the employer the previous day.
Representing the employers at the table, MESS has updated its offer of raise at the first meetings. MESS has increased its 12 percent raise offer to 17 percent. Representing the workers' side, the Turkish Metal Union left the table, saying that the new offer is also unacceptable.
The process, which started in October, resulted in a dispute due to the employer's low raise offer. Thereupon, metal workers prepared an action calendar and started warning actions to the employer. When these actions did not produce any results, the union shared the strike decision with the public last weekend. Immediately after this statement, a call was made to the employer unions to meet again. However, in the last meeting, the employer's offer of a raise to 17 percent is also not accepted.
STRIKE DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON JANUARY 2
Turkish Metal Union stated that neither the first nor the last offer is acceptable. The union reiterated its emphasis that they will continue their actions with determination. Announcing that it will hold a big rally in Kocaeli on January 2, Turkish Metal Union will also announce when they will implement their strike decision.
