The Ministry of Commerce stated that with the decision of the Unfair Price Evaluation Board, has imposed these penalties on businesses and chain markets operating at the national and local level, and other food products such as eggs, milk, pasta, yoghurt, and cleaning materials such as detergents, soaps and similar products, which are among the basic needs.
 

AUDIT CONTINUES WITHOUT BREAK 

 
The Unfair Price Evaluation Board, which was established on April 16, 2020 to prevent exorbitant price increases and stocking practices of suppliers and retail businesses, and to take administrative fines when necessary, continues exorbitant price increases and stocking inspections without interruption. But still, a solution to the exorbitant prices has not been found. 
 
The Ministry of Commerce reported that an administrative fine of 56 million 602 thousand 168,50 TL was imposed on businesses that were found to be making exorbitant price increases and stockpiling by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board. According to the statement made by the Ministry, the Unfair Price Evaluation Board held its 7th meeting this year. At the meeting, the results of the inspections carried out by the Ministry for chain markets operating at the national and local level and other businesses were discussed in order to determine the price increases in food products such as eggs, milk, pasta, yoghurt, cleaning agents such as detergent, soap and similar products, which are among the basic needs of consumers. In this context, it has been decided to impose an administrative fine of 9 million 403 thousand 237,50 TL on 21 businesses, including national markets, which are considered to be making exorbitant price increases and stockpiling.
 

AUDIT FROM BREAD TO BABY FOOD 

 
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of businesses and products from milk to cereal products, from baby diapers and food to cleaning products, from vegetables and fruits to bread, from fire equipment to Value Added Tax (KDV) discounts, from electronic market places to vehicle stocking has been inspected by the Board. An administrative fine of 56 million 602 thousand 168,50 TL has been imposed on businesses that have been found to be making exorbitant price increases and stockpiling in the audits carried out to date. The Board continues its exorbitant price increases and stocking inspections without interruption. The Unfair Price Evaluation Board, which includes representatives of the consumer and private sector as well as the public, aims to contribute to the healthy and orderly functioning of free market conditions in the supply chain and to protect consumers. Within the scope of the efforts to prevent unfair and anti-competitive activities that cause market disruptions during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the amendment made in the Law on the Regulation of Retail Trade on April 16, 2020, to prevent exorbitant price increases and stockpiling practices of manufacturers, suppliers and retail businesses and an Unfair Price Evaluation Board was formed in order to impose administrative fines when necessary.
