Accordingly, the hunger limit rose to 7,785 Turkish Liras (TL), and the poverty line to 25,365 TL. Inflation in the kitchen, which is the most basic expenditure item of the citizens, has exceeded 137 percent in the last 1 year.
November results of the hunger limit and poverty line survey conducted regularly by Türk-İş Confederation were shared with the public. According to the results of the research, the cost of living continued to affect all areas, while the inflation in the kitchen increased by 4,87 percent monthly and by 137,38 percent in a year. While the hunger limit was calculated as 7,785 TL, the minimum wage of 5,500 TL was 2,287 TL less than the hunger limit. The poverty line was determined as 25,365 TL. In the results, which drew attention to the increasing inflation, it was emphasized that the narrow and fixed income group continued to be impoverished, while it was stated that inflation seriously increased the cost of living. According to the results of the research, It was stated that purchasing power decreased, social injustice increased and income distribution deteriorated in the face of the ongoing price increases in basic goods and services.
POVERTY LIMIT EXCEEDED 25,000 TL
While the decrease in purchasing power continues with continuous price increases, it was pointed out that the wages received by the wage earners were not enough for their basic expenditures, and it was underlined that the citizens tended to shop less frequently and even in food products. According to the results of the Türk-İş Confederation survey in November 2022; The monthly food expenditure that a family of four should make in order to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet, that is the hunger limit, reaches 7,786.85 TL. It was stated that the total amount of other monthly expenses that must be made for the needs, with food expenditure, clothing, housing rent, electricity, water, fuel, transportation, education, health and similar namely the poverty line, increased to 25,364.35 TL, and the 'cost of living' of a single employee rose to 10,171.17 TL per month.
KITCHEN INFLATION INCREASED 137,38 PERCENT
According to Türk-İş Confederation data, the change in ‘kitchen inflation’ was 4,87 percent in November compared to the previous month, while an increase of 137,38 percent was observed in the last 12 months. It was underlined that the main reason for the increase in food prices was the economic and financial policies implemented.
