Sürücü noted that the promise of 3,600 additional indicator (a law that determines retirement rights) made in 2018 must be fulfilled and that all teachers who retired after 2018 should also benefit from this right.
3,600 additional indicator, first promised by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2018, recently is on the agenda again. After the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave a date about 3,600 additional indicator, Chairman of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) Hamdi Sürücü stated that 3,600 additional indicator should cover all teachers who retired as of 2018, when they were promised,
"3,600 additional indicator is not a new issue. It should be implemented by covering it from the promised date so that the loss of rights can be prevented,” he added.
“TEACHERS HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE 2018”
3,600 additional indicator for teachers first appeared as a promise in 2018. Although it has not been active in the last three years, it has recently been brought to the agenda again. From the promised 2018, stating that an average of 13,000 teachers have retired every year since then, Sürücü said, "Teachers have been waiting since 2018. There are also teachers currently waiting to retire when the 3,600 additional indicator promised in 2018 are released. An average of 13,000 teachers retire annually."
“3600 ADDITIONAL INDICATOR MUST INCLUDE RETIRED PEOPLE FROM 2018 TO THE DATE”
Pointing out that with 3,600 additional indicator, there will be an increase in the pensions of retired teachers, Sürücü emphasized that the promised date should be taken as a basis in order to prevent loss of rights with the increase in pensions.
“With 3,600 additional indicator, there will be an increase of 500 to 600 Turkish Liras in retired teachers' pensions on average. There are thousands of teachers who have retired since the first time it was brought to the agenda. Therefore, 3,600 additional indicator should be valid as of 2018, when it first came to the agenda," he declared.
“APPROXIMATELY 65K TEACHERS HAVE RETIRED”
Stating that an average of 13,000 teachers have retired since 2018, Sürücü said, “When we look at the numbers, 13,382 teachers retired in 2019, 13,389 teachers in 2020, 20,000- 25,000 retirements are expected in 2021. With the inclusion of 2021, from the time when 3,600 additional indicator was first promised, a total of 65,000 teachers retired. There are also teachers who have the right to retire and are waiting for the announcement of 3,600 additional indicator. In order to prevent the loss of rights, it should be taken as a basis from the promised date.”
