Minister Tekin had announced that the interviews would not be abolished and that the appointment would be made after a 45-minute interview.

THE GOOD NEWS DRAWED A REACTION, AND IT WAS NOT IMPLEMENTED AFTER THE ELECTIONS

Speaking at the AKP Election Declaration and Parliamentary Candidate Promotion Meeting before the election, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "We will make public recruitments based on the success rankings of our young people in the exams by eliminating interviews other than the obligations of the job." He announced that the interview would be cancelled.

Erdoğan's announcement as "good news" caused reactions.

The interview practice, made widespread by the AKP over the years, frequently led to allegations of nepotism. After the elections, this promise was not put into practice in any field.

TEACHERS WILL SPEAK 45 MINUTES IN FRONT OF A JURY OF 3 PEOPLE

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, who made a statement on the television program he attended, drew a reaction by announcing that interviews will not be abolished in teacher appointments, but their form will change.

Tekin, regarding the system he stated that they are working on, "Teachers will be interviewed for a 45-minute interview in front of a jury of three people. In this interview, he will be asked to talk and explain about the subject asked. In addition, the teacher candidate will give a written statement during this 45-minute period. This entire process will be recorded with a camera. In this way, we aim to eliminate false claims and also want to measure how much the candidates have internalized what they learned at the university," he said.

“WE DO NOT FIND THE INTERVIEW CORRECT”

Noting that the interview system has caused controversy for a long time, Educators Union (Eğitim-Bir-Sen) Secretary General Talat Yavuz stated that they have been making statements for the abolition of the system for a long time, and said, "From a situation where there are perhaps 1 million unappointed teachers, our teachers come from eliminating 100s of thousands of teachers through exams and we see that they are eliminated through interviews. Interviews can be held at points that do not harm people's sense of justice, but the interviews held today damage their sense of justice. We express that interviews, especially in recruitment, cause social harm and that this system cannot be improved and the problem cannot be solved only through interviews. Therefore, as we stated in our previous statements, we do not find interviews appropriate for recruitment."

Turkish Education Union Chairman Talip Geylan, who made a written statement regarding the issue, underlined that the interview statement contradicts President Erdoğan's statement.

Geylan reminded the suffering of the education community regarding the interview.

"From recruitment to promotion and managerial appointments, MEB's interview history is not innocent at all. We remember, during those oral examination processes, lists were floated in the air with the will of union, social and political structures, and there were precedents where those who deserved 'did not get what they deserved'," he said.
