Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made an assessment on the prominent topics of the agenda at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in his party’s group meeting. Kılıçdaroğlu's main agenda was the latest developments in the economy.
“THE REASON OF THE PROBLEM IS DISTRUST”
Stating that the recent developments are an indication that the economy has entered a serious instability vortex, "The basis of the problem is trust. If the citizens of a country do not trust the political authority that governs them, it means that they cannot manage the country in a healthy way. This government, which has a structure where everyone has a voice, cannot establish trust in the country," he said.
"THEY DID WHAT SHOULD NOT BE DONE"
Speaking about the fluctuations in exchange rates, “The evil done to this country was not enough, they did what should not be done. They gamble with baitulmal (Islamic State Treasury). It is not possible to gamble with the state treasury. The state is not someone's testing ground. They gave a guarantee with money that is not in the treasury. By saying that 'Nas (Islamic teachings) commands it' they applied the highest level of hidden interest. They took the country to a ridiculous, dark world where the poor funds the currency holder. Where is the Nas in that?" Kılıçdaroğlu added.
“THE BALLOT BOX SHOULD COME”
Noting that the first thing to do is to change the government that carried the country in this terrible situation, Kılıçdaroğlu repeated his call for snap elections.
“If the rulers of the country face impasses in times of crisis, the only thing that is done in democracies is to resort to the arbitration of the people. They cannot run the country, more and more costs are coming with each passing day. The right thing for those in power is to bring the ballot box. Whether they bring the ballot box or not, we will make every effort to bring the ballot box. We cannot tolerate the oppression of this nation, price hikes like rain, and children going to bed hungry,” he said.
