The price of every product in the market continues to increase. While the first meeting regarding the increase in the minimum wage was held on Monday, civil servants and retirees are waiting for the new year for the increase in their wages.
Citizens are expecting a price hike that will increase their purchasing power, which has fallen due to the economic crisis.
Reminding that the hunger line increased to 14 thousand 25 TL and the poverty line increased to 45 thousand 686 TL, Mehmet Alper Öğretici, Chairman of the Confederation of Independent Public Servants' Unions (BASK), stated that an increase based on the inflation figure announced by TÜİK would not be acceptable.
"It is known by everyone that TURKSTAT figures do not match the prices in bazaars, markets, markets and rentals," Öğretici said.
“IF CITIZENS COULD BUY MORE PRODUCTS LAST YEAR, THE INCREASE DOES NOT MATTER”
Noting that minimum wage negotiations have started and the increases to be made for civil servants and retirees in January, Öğretici stated that the increases will only be discussed in percentage rates.
"What really matters is not the percentage increases, but how to protect the purchasing power of fixed income earners. If you want, make a 100 percent increase, but if the fixed income buys more products such as cheese, olives, gasoline and sugar with last year's salary, the increase does not matter," Öğretici added.
