The report prepared by the Felicity (Saadet) Party Science, Technology and Innovation Policies Board included suggestions for the domestic automobile production initiative TOGG launched by Turkey, in line with the current situation of the automotive market in Turkey and the future expectation of the industry.
In the report, which emphasized that the knowledge in automotive technologies and especially the battery technology, which is the basic need of electric vehicles, are gathered in the Asian continent, it was underlined that the Asian continent will increase its weight in the electric vehicle sector.
The report prepared by the Technology and Innovation Policies Board included important findings and recommendations.
While it is stated that the automotive industry is the 6th largest economic parameter in the world, and it is reminded that it is the most important export item for Turkey, the production in Turkey as both the main industry and the subsidiary industry, and accordingly, the R&D studies are more advanced. It was pointed out that the potential of taking it to higher levels is necessary.
ADVANTAGE FOR THE FUTURE
While emphasizing that the automotive industry will adapt to advanced technologies such as autonomous driving (automobile driving technology that moves without human intervention) with the developing technologies in the future periods and that electric vehicles will dominate the automotive sector in the world by 2040, the national automobile project of the country, TOGG, has these advantages. It was stated that it could be a preference all over the world in the future.
In the report, which is noted that the electrical technology required for the use of electric vehicles in our country as well as in the whole world is still not fully widespread, Turkey's advantages in renewable energy resources are made for the use of electric vehicles by making improvements in the field of obtaining, transporting and storing electricity and by expanding charging stations. It was stated that the necessary infrastructure should be developed.
SHOULD BE ATTRACTIVE
In the report, which emphasized that the production of battery technology used in the national automobile project TOGG in cooperation with a Chinese company is advantageous for our country, the report stated that while gaining a global competence in battery technologies, academic studies and subsidiary industry can be developed and employment areas can be opened.
In the report emphasizing that if the price of the national car TOGG is determined and is more expensive than its competitors, it should be made attractive for citizens with government incentives, it was noted that the vehicle should be prepared with a cradle to grave production approach in order to convince citizens that electric vehicles are not yet common.
