Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safedi, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Faisal al-Miqdad, Foreign Minister of the Syrian Bashar al-Assad regime, in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
In the final declaration published after the meeting, which was closed to the press, "The foreign ministers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt confirmed that they prioritize the end of the Syrian crisis and its international and regional ramifications," it was stated.
In the final declaration, where it was pointed out that the ministers had reached an agreement on "negotiations" with the Assad regime Foreign Minister Mikdad, it was stated that the calendar of the said negotiations, which would be in line with the efforts of the United Nations (UN), would be decided later.
“RETURN OF REFUGEES IS A PRIORITY ISSUE”
At the meeting of the foreign ministers held in Amman, the final declaration emphasized that "the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their countries is the priority issue", and it was noted that steps regarding refugees should be taken immediately.
In the declaration, it was pointed out that the Assad regime will start to determine the needs of the regions to which the refugees will return, in coordination with the UN agencies, and it was stated that some steps can be taken to facilitate the return of refugees, including the general amnesty.
In the declaration, which stated that the Assad regime and the Amman government would cooperate with the relevant UN agencies for the voluntary return of approximately 1000 Syrian refugees in Jordan at the first stage, it was stated that the circle could be expanded to include other countries after Jordan.
SYRIA'S RETURN TO THE ARAB UNION
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman es-Safedi, at the press conference he held after the meeting, "Syria's decision to return to the Arab League is a decision to be taken in line with the working mechanism of the Arab League," he said.
Speaking at the meeting, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hussein said that they are trying to find a formula based on reconciliation between Syria and Arab countries in order to open channels of dialogue in relations.
