HOMECARE SERVICE FOR 160 THOUSAND PEOPLE
Due to the fact that our elders prefer to stay in their own home or being with the family as much as possible, the Ministry of Family and Social Policy has accelerated their efforts to support home care. Within this scope the care support at home started to give to 160,000 people.

In Turkey, there are 13 thousand 159 in nursing homes connected to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy and 6 thousand 659 in private nursing homes. In total, 19,818 people are in the nursing homes.
While the proportion of the population over the age of 65 defined as "elderly" in Turkey is 8%, it is predicted that this ratio will reach 22% by 2050. Based on this prediction, and depending on the growing needs, the ministry, which has experienced many new applications within the scope of the "National Aging Implementation Program" for elderly citizens.
According to the ministry, as of November 2016, the Ministry of Health provides services to 13 thousand 159 people in 140 nursing homes and 14 Elderly Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Centers. Moreover, 6 thousand 659 elderly people are being cared for in 170 special nursing homes of 9 thousand 514 capasities.
In this context, there are 19,818 people in total in the ministry and private nursing homes.
CARE SERVICE BEING PROVIDED TO 160 THOUSANDS IN THEIR HOMES
Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, Minister of Family and Social Policy, stressed that the main task of the ministry is to support the elderly citizens at every moment in their lives and to ensure a peaceful, happy, safe and healthy life in the family environment, considering that they have made AA correspondence about the studies conducted for elderly people throughout Turkey.
"Our priority is to make sure that if they can not be with their families, they will stay in a secure environment of a warm house. That's why we value our care at home. Our elders prefer to stay in their own home or family as much as possible. We, as the Ministry, believe that most of our grandparents will be happy and peaceful when their families are with them. For this reason, we have accelerated our efforts to support home care, which will comfort our society. Within this scope, we give care support to 160 thousand people at home." Kaya said.
Couples can stay together in Elderly Houses
Indicating that new service models for the elderly are being applied, Kaya reminded that Elderly Houses and Elderly Support Program (YADES) were started.
