The Istanbul Convention could not pass through the Hungarian Parliament

In the Hungarian Parliament, a political declaration calling on the government not to ratify the Istanbul Convention was adopted.

The declaration submitted to parliament by the government's coalition partner Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) deputies was approved by 35 "no", 3 "abstaining" and 115 "yes" votes.

Council of Europe's Council of Ministers approved in Strasbourg on Committee 7, April 2011 and the full name of "Violence against Women and Domestic Violence Prevention and with them Struggle on the Council of Europe Convention" under the leadership of Turkey, was opened for signature in Istanbul on 11 May 2011. Since the contract was opened for signature here, it started to be called the Istanbul Convention. The will signing the convention did not object even to the safeguarding of "sexual preference or sexual orientation" in the third paragraph of the fourth article of the convention, although we are a Muslim country.
 
The declaration called on the government not to ratify the Istanbul Convention and to show the same stance in the European Union (EU) institutions. The contract was signed by the Hungarian government in 2014 and did not enter into force because it was not ratified in parliament.
