The economic indicators that go off the rails, increase hunger and poverty. The results of the ‘Hunger-Poverty Survey’ for May, prepared by the United Public Business Confederation Research Center (KAMU-AR), also revealed the dire picture in the economy.
POVERTY LINE REACHED 20,000 TL
According to the results of the research, in May, the hunger limit for a family of 4 was recorded as 6,465 Turkish Liras (TL) and the poverty line as 19,406 TL. According to the research, which also includes the results on purchasing power, the amount that should be spent monthly to eat healthy according to the prices compiled from the markets where the most shopping is done in Ankara has increased by 183 TL compared to the previous month, while it has increased by 821 TL in the last year.
POVERTY LINE INCREASES 1,000 TL MONTHLY
The fact that the poverty line is based on 20,000 TL according to the results of the research revealed that the remaining 80 percent of the society is poor, except for the rich section that made up 20 percent of the society. According to these data, the middle class, which forms the basis of the equable economy, is beginning to disappear in our country. So much so that the poverty line increased by 5,892 TL in the first five months of this year.
