The hikes made from A to Z, especially basic foodstuffs, have already melted the not yet determined minimum wage. At a time when even the official inflation figures are based on 20 percent, the expectation of a raise in the minimum wage rises, and citizens are worried that their hopes will be in vain. Minimum wage negotiations begin in the first week of December. The high course of inflation before the negotiations in which the increase to the minimum wage, which is currently 2,825 TL, will be determined, raised the expectations. Although it is stated in the backstages of the government that a raise will be made in the minimum wage by about a 1,000 Turkish Liras (TL), the hikes made in every field including even the smallest items have already melted the future minimum wage.

114 DOLLARS LOSS FROM JANUARY TODAY

The wage of more than 10 millions minimum wage earners, which was 383 dollars at the beginning of the year, decreased to 269 dollars with the dollar exchange rate of 10,5 TL. In order to equalize the minimum wage in January, a raise of at least 114 dollars is required, while the figure spoken in the backstage of the government is around 3,500 TL. The fact that the minimum wage is 3,500 TL, as it was talked about in the new period, corresponds to an increase of only 64 dollars from today's exchange rate, which means going backwards, not forwards. Considering Turkey's current economic situation and the ever-increasing exchange rate, it seems that even a 1,000 TL hike will not be enough.
