In the first 5 months of 2022, the compensation decision of the Constitutional Court in individual application files exceeded 255 million Turkish Lira.

CITIZEN PAY THE BILL FOR WRONG DECISIONS OF THE COURTS
Wrong decisions made by the judiciary in Turkey are returning from the Constitutional Court as compensation.
While individual applications to the Constitutional Court are enduring every year due to violations, a significant portion of the applications are returned from the high court as compensation.
While the President of the Constitutional Court, Zühtü Arslan, announced that the number of individual applications made to the Constitutional Court has approached 110,000 in the past days, the fact that more than half of this results in violations causes large amounts of compensation to come out of the state's coffers.
According to official data, it was revealed that 255 million 156 thousand TL was paid under the title of "individual application compensation payments" from the state budget only in the first 5 months of 2022.
While the state paid 65 million TL compensation to the citizens in May, this figure was recorded as 122 million 172 thousand TL in April.
INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION APPROACHES 110,000
On the other hand, applications to the Constitutional Court increase exponentially every year.
President of the Constitutional Court Arslan noted that there are approximately 110,000 individual applications in the current situation, while the number of applications made to the court in 2020 was 40,402.
In 2021, this number increased by 65% to 66,121.
In only the first 5.5 months of this year, the number of applications reached 62,205.
According to statistics, more than half of the applications made unfortunately result in violations.
