The Imagine Project, which was created to bring Turkish and Greek Cypriots closer to each other and to instill the Cypriot identity, resurrected and a letter of participation was sent to schools from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ministry of National Education (MEB) within the scope of the project, which poses a threat to the existence of the TRNC.
After the news of the Milli Gazete on the subject, the Imagine Project stopped.
“THE FACT THAT THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE AUTHORITIES/STATES ON THE ISLAND OF CYPRUS HAS BEEN IGNORED”
While it was stated that the project was postponed in order to allow its re-evaluation, Presidential Undersecretary Okan Donangil made a statement on the subject.
In his written statement, Donangil said that in the evaluation made regarding the method to be followed in the implementation of the Imagine Project for the 2022-2023 academic year and the educational materials that were finally provided, the fact that there are two separate authorities/states on the Island of Cyprus was ignored.
"Therefore, it is considered that it would be beneficial to postpone the implementation of the project in order to allow the Imagine Project to be re-evaluated," he said.
MİLLİ GAZETE REACTED TO THE PROJECT
In the news published on October 31, 2022, our newspaper reacted to the Imagine Project, which was created to bring Turkish and Greek Cypriots closer to each other and to instill Cypriot identity.
It was noted that the project, which poses a threat to the existence of the TRNC, is a tool of imperialist goals on the baby homeland.
In the news, "While the brainwashing of the Turkish Cypriots should be prevented, the TRNC Ministry of National Education is taking the opposite step. In the letter sent to the schools from the TRNC MEB, the Imagine Project is introduced and information about participation is conveyed," it was stated.
