According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.94 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 4.01 percent on a monthly basis in June. Annual inflation was 17.53 percent in consumer prices and 42.89 percent in domestic producer prices.
Considering the 12-month averages as of June, consumer prices increased by 14.55 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 25.38 percent. CPI increased by 8.45 percent in June compared to December of last year, and D-PPI increased by 22.04 percent compared to December 2020.
THE HIGHEST INCREASE ON A MONTHLY BASIS IS IN HOME GOODS
In terms of main expenditure groups, in June, the groups with the highest monthly increase were household goods with 4.5 percent, entertainment and culture with 4.46%, restaurants and hotels with 3.82%, respectively. The only group that showed a monthly decrease in June was recorded as alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 0.01%. The main groups that showed the least increase were communication with 0.35 percent and health with 0.8%.
ANNUAL FOOD INFLATION 20 PERCENT
In the main expenditure groups in the CPI, the highest annual increase in June was seen in transportation with 26.29 percent. Transportation was followed by household goods with 25.69 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 19.99 percent. The main groups in which the increase was lower in June compared to 2020 were determined as alcoholic beverages and tobacco group with 2.01%, communication with 6.13 percent, clothing and shoes with 7.05 percent.
HIGHEST PRICE INCREASE IN “DOMESTIC TOURS” IN JUNE
On the basis of consumer prices, the highest price increase in June was seen in domestic tours with a duration of one week or more, with 51.6%. Last month, the price increase in domestic tours of one week or more was followed by vacuum cleaners with 14.72 percent and make-up materials with 14.6%. Last month, the highest price decrease was in garlic with 28.19 percent. This was followed by eggplant with 17.63 percent, tomato with 15.32 percent, bell pepper with 12.24 percent, zucchini with 11.43 percent and green beans with 11.35 percent.
