Mehmet Alper Öğretici, Secretary General of the Confederation of Independent Public Servants Unions (BASK), underlined that even the compulsory food expenditures increased by 8.02 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data on a family of four.

"RETIRED PEOPLE RECEIVE MONTHLY BELOW THE HUNGER LIMIT"

Öğretici stated that when the average salaries are compared with the hunger and poverty line figures, it becomes clear how difficult it is for the citizens to live.

"According to April data, the average civil servant salary is 6,623 TL, the average pension fund salary is 4,674 TL, and the average Social Insurance Institution pension is 3,262 TL. When we look at the figures announced by Türk-İş, retirees receive wages even below the hunger line, while civil servants are paid just above the hunger line, even less than half the poverty line," he said.

"LOSSES OF CIVIL SERVANTS AND PENSIONERS SHOULD BE MET EARLY"

Pointing out that even when looking at the data announced by TURKSTAT and whose authenticity is discussed, Öğretici said, "When we look at the Turkstat inflation, which does not match the realities in the field, the market and the market, civil servants and retirees have become a creditor of 15.31 percent in just three months. With the April data, this receivable will increase even more. Inflation losses should be covered without waiting for July, and an additional hike should be applied to protect employees and retirees against real inflation."
