Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy and Youth Branch Chairman Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the situation of local television and radio channels and newspapers, which had a difficult time during the pandemic period and the increase in the exchange rate, to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Karaduman, who submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the request of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, asked the problems of the local press one by one.

“ADVERTISING REVENUE OF LOCAL PRESS DOWNED TO ZERO”

Karaduman drew attention to the importance of press workers and press organizations, "Dozens of local radio channels have been closed since the pandemic process started across Turkey, dozens of them are either for sale or for rent. Due to the pandemic, especially the tradesmen, the advertising revenues of the local press were almost zero in many places. In this process, it is seen that adequate studies have not been carried out on local press members and the local media has been left alone with serious grievances," he said.

“WILL YOU HAVE ANY WORK?”

Karaduman, who directed 4 questions to the Minister of Culture, Ersoy, "What is the total number of local TV channels and radio channels closed in the last year? What work have you done to provide the necessary support for local TV and radio channels to continue their press activities during the pandemic process? Is there any financial support due to the compulsory broadcasts made to local radio and TV channels? If support is not provided to the local press on this issue, what is the reason? Does your ministry have any cooperation or coordination with municipalities and governorships in supporting local radio and TV channels and eliminating the grievances they experience? If coordination is provided, what are the joint efforts to solve the problems experienced?" he asked.
