While the number of village schools that have been closed since 2002 has exceeded 20 thousand, parents, students and teachers faced problems with the closed schools. As the villages were emptied as a result of the government's policies that directed people towards the cities, the schools were also affected by these policies. Parents moved their children to cities to improve their children's education quality. Ministry of National Education (MEB) realized the mistake 20 years later. Despite the decision to reopen schools in villages with the regulation change published this year, after the criticism increased intensely, especially during the pandemic period, the steps taken did not lead to the opening of village schools as schools.
