Naim Yılmaz, who is a grocer on Sakarya Street, the busiest street of Turkey's Sinop province, said that they sell plums and watermelons by the gram because citizens do not have the purchasing power.

"The purchasing power is decreasing day by day. We will be like Japan. We will sell one in a pack. We are going to at least 2, 2 and a half watermelons a day anyway. We never look for it. He doesn't want a child. There are people who have no money in their pockets. There are people who come with a credit card. He doesn't have enough money," Yılmaz said.

The greengrocer Yılmaz said that they are experiencing difficulties due to high prices and the decrease in the purchasing power of the citizens.

“WE ALSO SLICED THE WATERMELONS BECAUSE IT COSTS 250 LIRA PER PIECE”

"Plums come from Mersin Silifke, they cost 800 liras to 500 liras in 100 gram packages, and 50 liras for 100 grams of packages at the moment. Customers are reacting. Not everyone can afford it. Even when there is no purchasing power, we can have 3 or 4 pieces brought. We used to buy in parcels. We're getting 3 of 5 right now. And that's not to say no to people. We also sliced the watermelons because they cost 200-250 liras each. We slice it because the price is high. We sell them for 30-35 liras depending on the need, but that's it. We can't give the big ones, we only give the small ones. They also react to watermelon. They say, 'We will buy the whole watermelon in slices soon, and soon we will buy it in grams'. The purchasing power is decreasing day by day. We will be like Japan. We will sell one in a pack. We're going to have at least 2-2.5 watermelons a day anyway. We never look for it. He doesn't want a child. There are people who do not have money in their pockets or come with a credit card. He doesn't have enough money. We send it as much as we can without hurting anyone. We are always going negative right now. Our costs have increased. While I had the car insurance for 500 liras, I paid 2 thousand 160 liras this year, 6 thousand liras. I bought the wheel that I bought for 600 liras for a thousand 500 liras. Costs have increased, but nothing reflects on us. We always go under. Our fuel costs, expense costs and safes have all increased. But our earnings fell out of spite. We have nothing else to do. We have to do this job. But loss, but profit. We have nothing to gain right now," Yılmaz added.
