Speaking at the "Contracted Staff Feast" held by Memur-Sen at the Ankara Congresium, President Erdoğan made statements regarding the increase rate to be applied to civil servants and pensions.

President Erdoğan announced that a 25 percent increase will be applied instead of 16.47 percent for civil servants and 15 percent for retirees, together with the inflation figures.

However, the announced figure was below the expectations of civil servants and retirees.

CIVIL SERVANTS TO RECEIVE 16.4 PERCENT, RETIRED 15.4 PERCENT WILL RECEIVE 25 PERCENT

Drawing attention to the downward trend in inflation, President Erdoğan stated that together with the announced inflation figure, the salaries of civil servants and pensioners were also determined.

"Determining inflation figures means that civil servants and pensions are also determined. Last year, we made an increase of 80 percent, taking into account inflation. We also introduced many regulations such as tax exemption and contracted staff. With the announced inflation figures, the rate of increase covering the salary increases for public officials since January was 16.48 percent, while this rate was 15.4 percent for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. Here, officer, I would like to give the good news that we will apply the salary increase rate to our retirees as 25 percent," he said.

A raise in the minimum wage was expected.

After the 54.66 percent increase in the minimum wage, civil servants and retirees had similar expectations.

While civil servants and retirees expect an average increase of 40 percent, President Erdogan's statement of 25 percent fell short of expectations.

MINIMUM RETIRED SALARY TO BE 4,375 TL

Accordingly, the lowest civil servant salary was 11 thousand 381 liras, the civil servant pension was 7 thousand 597 liras and the lowest pension was 4,375 liras.

In the 6-month period covering July, August, September, October, November and December, the inflation difference was 16.39 percent.

While calculating the said salaries, the increase arising from the collective agreement that civil servants and civil servant retirees received in the previous 6-month period is subtracted from the 6-month inflation rate and the new increase rate is added.

The increase rate that civil servants and civil servants will receive in the new period is revealed.

Civil servants receive an 8 percent raise in January in accordance with the collective agreement. SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees receive 7 percent.

Minimum wage in TRNC 11,800 liras

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Minimum Wage Determination Commission announced the minimum wage in the country for 2023 as a net 11 thousand 800 Turkish Liras.

The commission, attended by the representatives of the government, workers and employers, held its third meeting.

At the meeting, the parties agreed to increase the minimum wage, which was applied as 8 thousand 600 Turkish Liras net last year.

In his statement after the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Security Hasan Taçoy stated that the minimum wage to be applied in the country in 2023 was determined as 11 thousand 800 net and 13 thousand 563 Turkish liras gross.

Taçoy stated that the new fee will be applied as of January.

Wishing the new minimum wage to be beneficial to the parties, Taçoy emphasized that approximately 50 percent insurance premium support will be given to workplaces.
