The Minimum Wage Recruitment Period Report which is prepared by Metal-İş once again revealed the dificulty of livelihood of the minimum wage paid employees. The report stated that most of the basic food expenditures of the minimum wage suffered a considerable loss of purchasing power. According to the report, 86% of every 100 products with minimum wage are in purchasing power, but today only 38% of onions that they can buy two years ago.
 
In the report, in which the minimum wage was regressed in real terms due to the increase in inflation in 2018, it was emphasized that the purchasing power of some minimum expenditure holders of the minimum wage decreased significantly compared to November 2016. In the report, the price increase on the ’onion’ which is included in the agenda of the assessment, the minimum wage income of two years ago with the income of only 38 percent of the onion was taken.
 
Other items that the minimum wage loss experienced in the purchasing power were as follows: Compared to the period of November 2016, the purchasing power loss in potatoes was 52 percent, the purchasing power loss in tomato was 42 percent, the price of egg falling in the previous month was 28 percent, in milk 28 percent, 25 percent in apples, 15 percent in dry beans, 19 percent in rice and 14 percent in lamb.
