It has been five years since the Presidential Government System was implemented.
The system, which was introduced with the 2017 referendum and put into practice for the first time in 2018, has already caused great difficulties.
What was said, what was going to happen, what was wanted to be done, and what came out as a result of the new system brought to the agenda not only by the party members in power, but also by the pro-party pencils.
The AK Party, which presents the system change with the promise of "we will end the coalitions" to the public, is having a hard time due to the 50+1 Presidential Government System.
While criticism of the system continued to come from within and around the party, the Motherland Party, whose votes were not even in the thousands according to the polls, came together before the election and formed a coalition with parties such as the DSP.
THE BIGGEST PROMISE WAS ENDING THE COALITIONS
The AK Party, which is about to complete its 21st year in power, has faced the bad results of the policies it has implemented in education, economy, agriculture and foreign policy since it came to power.
The AK Party, which is understood to lose the elections according to many polls, has also been at the center of the discussions with the promises it has made in the election manifesto that it has announced recently.
Following President Erdoğan's statements in the program in which he made statements that the Presidential Government System will be "restored", eyes were once again turned to the system.
The Presidential Government System, which was accepted with a referendum in 2017, entered into force in 2018.
The AK Party, acting together with the MHP, was that the biggest promise of the new system to be introduced was that the period of coalition governments would come to an end.
However, the picture that emerged before the May 14 elections, which will be held 5 years after the system change, revealed a picture contrary to the biggest promise offered by the government for system change.
PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE MADE A COALITION OF 6
In the periods that the government often criticized and referred to as "the old Turkey", political parties formed coalition governments according to the picture formed after the elections instead of forming a coalition before the elections.
In the newly introduced Presidential Government System, it is necessary to reach 50+1 in order to be elected president. In this state, the 50+1 threshold, which forced the parties to form a coalition before the election, led to the formation of alliances such as the People's Alliance, the Nation Alliance and Labor and Freedom.
Seeing that it could not reach 50+1, which is seen as an obstacle that locks politics, the government had to form a coalition with the Democratic Left Party, which could not even find thousands of votes, as well as the MHP, Welfare Again Party, HUDA PAR, and the Great Union Party.
