Regarding the Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Theology Deputy Dean and Dr. Lecturer Cihad Kısa’s statements that were reflected widely in social media, Muhittin Hamdi Yıldırım, Chairman of the Association of Religious Officials (DIN-BİR-DER), pointed out that in recent years, theology faculties have come to the fore frequently with such events in a statement signed by Yıldırım.
“The fact that our theology faculties, which should lead the our youths to meet with life-giving principles and exemplary morality of Islam, come to the fore with actions and discourses contrary to the scriptures and provisions of Islam, deeply saddens our nation and religious officials and makes us think bitterly,” the statement said.
ENTIRE SHORT VIDEO MUST BE PUBLISHED
Pointing out that there is not the entire speech in the video posted on social media, "We want to believe that the speech in question, which we did not have the opportunity to listen it in its entirety, was deviated from its context and misunderstood. In the statement made by the university, which is the target of the allegations, on the subject, Faculty Member Dr. Cihad Kısa's words could not go beyond darkening the smoke screen. Faculty Member Cihad Kısa should urgently publish his entire speech and clarify his words that caused public outrage. If his words are real as perceived by the public, he should show the virtue of resigning immediately, or he should be sacked,” the statement added.
CURRICULUM AND STAFF MUST BE REVIEWED
While emphasizing that the curriculum and teaching staff of all Theology Faculties should be reviewed regarding the events, "The curriculum and teaching staff in theology faculties that train religious officials should also be reviewed, and academics who make speeches that do not overlap with the basic messages of Islam should not be allowed," the statement said.
