In the statement made by the TİHEK, the retrial made for the victims of the May 27 coup was reminded.

"With a similar legal regulation, the grievances of all segments of society who suffered injustice during the February 28 process should be eliminated, and those convicted with unjust punishments should be re-trialed," the statement said.

Due to the 24th anniversary of the postmodern coup on February 28, Turkey Human Rights and Equality Institution (TİHEK) issued a written statement, and it was underlined that the punishment of the perpetrators of the February 28 process as a result of the trials of the military wing was positive, albeit symbolically, but insufficient.

TENS OF PEOPLE HAVE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA

It was stated that the elected government was forced to resign in the process of February 28, despite all its successes, and the lives of millions of people were darkened by practices that were discriminatory, exclusionary and against human rights due to their political and religious views.

"In this process, the biggest discrimination and violence has been against women. In the persuasion rooms, many women were forced to take off their headscarves by the putschist minds, ignoring their religious preferences. Most of the women who were subjected to so-called persuasion efforts and, in essence, to severe psychological traumas in these rooms, had to leave their education at universities where they successfully won. With the unlawful headscarf ban, women have been prevented from being present in working life with their religious identity."

DAMAGES OF VICTIMS OF THE 28 FEBRUARY PROCESS

During the February 28 process, it was underlined that not only the military wing but also other perpetrators who directly or indirectly supported the process should be tried and publicly held to account.

"The regulation, which ensures that the damages suffered by the victims are covered by the Treasury during the coup d'etat on May 27, 1960, should also be arranged for the victims of February 28, and the victims' damages should be compensated, and those convicted with unjust punishments should be tried again."

It was emphasized that the elimination of human rights violations and grievances caused by the postmodern coup of February 28 is necessary within the framework of human rights.
