The West could not digest our success in the Peace Operation

The Cyprus Peace Operation, which was realized thanks to the determined stance of National Vision leader Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan, still remains a big problem among the Crusaders.

The outstanding success of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in the Peace Operation, which was carried out in 1974 to prevent the Greek oppression in Cyprus, could not be digested by the USA, EU and UN despite the passing 47 years. Western institutions, which try not to leave a Muslim population in Cyprus, continue to embrace the occupation activities of the Greek-Greek alliance in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean.

One of the most important details of the Cyprus issue, which is our national cause, is the Maraş issue. With the domination of the British after the First World War in Cyprus, which the Ottomans conquered in 1571, looked after for centuries, established foundations and ruled in peace, the assimilation activities of the Greeks on the Turks, whose peace of the island was disturbed, accelerated.

Greek dreams of expelling the Turks from the island of Cyprus and connecting Cyprus to Greece were lost to history with the successful operation of the Turkish Armed Forces in 1974. The Western World, which could never digest its outstanding success in the Peace Operation, in which Turkey saved the Turkish Cypriots from persecution thanks to late leader Necmettin Erbakan's determined stance, persistently continued its tactics of keeping Turkey and the TRNC at the negotiating table for the last 47 years. Western institutions, led by the European Union and the United Nations, openly insist on protecting the interests of Greece and the Greek Cypriot Administration on the island of Cyprus. The West ignores Muslim Turks while treating the Greek-Greek evil alliance, which does not give Turks the right to live in their own land, Cyprus, as if they were their own children. The sanctions threats made by the EU and the UN against Turkey and the TRNC regarding the Maras issue are the clearest indication of this thesis.

BASELESS STATEMENTS FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION: TAKE A STEP BACK

The Council of the European Union issued a baseless statement last week, urging Turkey and the TRNC to take a step back from the Maras policy. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his visit to the TRNC on July 20, 2021, which coincides with the 47th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, said that another part of the Covered Maraş region would be opened.

Condemning Erdogan's remarks regarding Varosha, the European Union Council's endless statement, which is openly interfering in our internal affairs, was as follows:

"The European Union strongly condemns Turkey's unilateral steps and unacceptable statements by the Turkish President and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community regarding the reopening of the city of Varosha on 20 July 2021. The EU welcomes the UN Security Council's (UNSC) condemnation of Ankara's unilateral actions and the statement of deep concern. The Council demands that Ankara immediately abandon this stance and retract all the steps taken in Varosha since October 2020."

EU THREATENED TURKEY WITH SANCTIONS

The European Union Council, which knows no bounds in arrogance, if Turkey does not take a step back on Maras, "We will use the tools at our disposal to defend EU interests and maintain regional stability," with its statements, EU openly threatened the Turkish side with sanctions. The council's statement also called for an end to the restrictions on the freedom of movement of the so-called UNFICYP peacekeeping force (UNFICYP), which works in Cyprus and protects the Greeks at every opportunity instead of keeping the peace.

THE EUROPEAN UNION MUST LEARN TO ADDRESS TRNC

The reaction of the governments of Turkey and the TRNC to the unlimited exit of the European Union was also harsh. Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, opposed the unfair impositions of Western institutions in Maras, "On behalf of the European Union, we condemn the statement made today (27 July) on Maraş. These and similar statements that ignore the Turkish Cypriot people, are detached from the facts and reflect only the views of the Greek Cypriot side have no value or meaning for us. It is not possible for this biased EU attitude, which is put forward with the excuses of membership solidarity and veto concerns, to contribute to the solution of any problem. We fully support the suggestions and all decisions taken by the TRNC authorities on the solution of the Cyprus issue and the opening of Maraş. The Maraş expansion is a decision taken by the TRNC Government. The EU should keep the promises it made to the Turkish Cypriot people after the Annan Plan in 2004 and learn to address the TRNC," he said.

EU IGNORE THE EXISTENCE OF THE TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE AND THE STATE

Following the reaction of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, a similar reaction statement was made by the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the statement of the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "EU Commission Vice-President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, made a biased statement on behalf of the European Union on 27 July 2021 on Maras, as usual. The EU, which ignores the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people and state, must now realize that Covered Maraş is TRNC territory and that the steps taken in Closed Maras are being taken by the TRNC State and Government. The TRNC had not taken any steps regarding the Covered Maraş in order to provide an opportunity to reach an agreement on the Island. The Greek Cypriot side's rejection of all the opportunities for agreement that emerged during the more than 50 years spent at the negotiating table necessitated taking a step towards Closed Maras, which has become the symbol of the status quo on the island. As it will be remembered, all the agreement plans and Confidence Building Measures, including Closed Maras, have been rejected outright by the Greek Cypriot side," it was stated.
