Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, made statements in a television program he attended.

Emphasizing that Turkey has no technical problems with natural gas, Dönmez said, "At the beginning of the year, we had estimated this year's total consumption as 50-51 billion cubic meters. There was an additional demand of 10 billion cubic meters. We will probably finish this year with 58-60 billion cubic meters. We provided this supply, mostly Liquefied natural gas (LNG), by making additional contracts in the spot markets."

Dönmez stated that next year's plans for natural gas are made and they are prepared for winter.

"Our long-term natural gas contracts give us great relief. We made extra agreements for additional demand. We will not have any problems with this," he added.

“THE STATE COVERS 3/4 NATURAL GAS BILLS”

Pointing out that the price increases in natural gas are not directly reflected to the households, Minister Dönmez noted that the state currently covers three quarters of the household's natural gas bills.

Dönmez said that approximately 100 billion liras of natural gas and electricity used in residences are subsidized by the state, and this amount reaches 150 billion liras in total, including fuel oil.

Dönmez stated that one of the fastest production preparation projects regarding the natural gas discovered in the Black Sea is carried out.

"No mishaps so far. We will bring this gas in the first quarter of 2023. It doesn't happen from today to tomorrow. The field is large, we will drill many wells and prepare them for production. The gas produced will come to the shore via the pipeline and will be processed. Since it will be connected to the national system, everyone will be able to use it. We will reach the maximum production level, which we call a plateau, around 2025-2026. Then for 20 years, the gas of the houses will be our natural gas," he said.
