Listening to the parties at the hearing on 2 July, the 10th Chamber of the Council of State is expected to announce its decision today.
If the Chamber annulls the decision of the Council of Ministers of 1934, Hagia Sophia will return to its original form and become a mosque after 86 years.
According to the Administrative Judicial Procedure Law; The decision of the Council of State must be fulfilled within 30 days.

If a positive decision is made today, pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Law, the 10th Chamber of the Council of State will rule out the decision of the Council of Ministers and if this decision becomes final, the decision will have to be fulfilled within 30 days. In the article 28 of the Administrative Judicial Procedure Law titled “Results of the decisions”, “The State Council is obliged to establish or take action without delay, according to the decisions of the district administrative courts, administrative and tax courts regarding the merits and suspension of execution. This period cannot be more than thirty days starting from the notification of the decision to the administration”.
Main opposition CHP also supports
Turkey is perhaps the first time in 86 years that such a large consensus achieved condition. There are no noteworthy institutions that oppose the opening of Hagia Sophia as a mosque. Finally, an important statement came from CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Kılıçdaroğlu explained that they would not oppose the opening of Hagia Sophia as a mosque. While this is the case, a positive step expected from the Council of State for Hagia Sophia today can be opened as a mosque in Hagia Sophia with a “one-page decree” politically.
