Felicity (Saadet) Party Disabled Coordination Center head İsrafil Bayrakçı, spoke to the Milli Gazete daily on December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Bayrakçı underlined that they see cultural differences in society when they look at what happened as disabled citizens. The second is the segment that partially recognizes the disabled. Thirdly, there is a segment that does not know the disabled person. When we meet people with high cultural level, we don't have any problems because they know how to treat the disabled. There are people who know how to communicate, how to behave when they help. Unfortunately, these people are few. In general, we meet more people in the second and third segments in public transportation, stops, streets, hospitals, that is, in society."

"NOT ONLY ON 3 DECEMBER, 365 DAYS WE ARE DISABLED PERSONS"

Bayrakci emphasized that there are things that the state and society should do on the World Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December. "I'm not only on December 3, but 365 days I'm disabled person."

"THERE ARE THE SAME PROBLEMS IN EDUCATION"

Bayrakçı reminding that Turkey is one of the countries, "But what was done after that signature, it should look at what went into action. We also enacted the Disability Act No. 5378 in 2005. They came out of Parliament. There are laws, but our main problem is in execution. For example, the E-KPSS (online) exam is held, but the law stipulates that; appointments are made twice a year. What matters is execution. In a small amount, they make a few appointments for show, and then the rest is pending. There are also problems in education. Fused education was a state policy, but it could not be implemented because it had no infrastructure. Because there is no special education teacher. We say that there is a shortage of teachers in special education, but we are looking at the unassigned, idle wandering, or have to work in other jobs because they are not appointed special education graduates," he said.

"SOCIETY SHOULD BE TRAINED IN THIS ISSUE"

Stating that transportation and access problems of disabled citizens are not solved even now, Bayrakçı said: "Transportation and access are an essential condition for these citizens to get involved in social life. Each group has its own problems. Vision, hearing, orthopedic, mental, all have different problems in life. The problems of these people should be addressed separately. Recently, at one of the schools, we saw parents and people who did not even accept children with autism. This is just one more incident. There are many more incidents that are not reflected in the press. The number of children with autism and disabilities who cannot go to school because of these attitudes is not small. People who show that the cat was rescued from the tree can not descend, these children, these people are persecuting our people with lack of understanding. Maybe they're not conscious. Society should be educated on these issues."
