Ömer Çağırıcı, Chairman of the Security-Work Union affiliated with the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions, met with members of the press in Ankara on the occasion of Private Security Week.
Çağırıcı addressed both the problems of private security guards and called for an interim increase in the minimum wage.
Çağırıcı stated that millions of employees are waiting for an interim increase in the minimum wage.
"There should be a significant increase in the minimum wage. In addition, the burden of increasing inflation in Turkey falls on the shoulders of employees. In order to alleviate this burden, fairness should be observed in tax regulation for salaried employees," Çağırıcı said.
"THERE ARE BIG PROBLEMS WITH ID CARDS"
Expressing the problems they experience in their own line of business, Çağırıcı emphasized that there are problems in renewing the identity cards of private security guards.
"Every private security guard is given an identity card. It is renewed every 5 years. There is no such situation in the police. If he is involved in a criminal case and receives a sentence of more than one year, his identity card is cancelled. We also support the cancellation of the card by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in case of catalog crimes. But when he is slandered, his identity card is canceled as soon as the prosecutor's office starts an investigation. When he is acquitted, he cannot get the card again. We demand that this problem be resolved," Çağırıcı added.
