After Justice and Development Party (AKP) Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu announced that the work on student amnesty has started, student amnesty in universities is on the agenda again. With the issue of amnesty coming to the fore, one wonders why university students are excluded from the education system. While 600,000 students were able to benefit from the amnesty, which was last held in 2018, it is stated that 4 million students will benefit from the arrangement to be made this year. According to the data, 1 million students dropped out of school every year in 4 years for any reason.

After the ruling wing announced that it was working on student amnesty, eyes turned to student amnesty. With the student amnesty expected in June, the question of why university students were excluded from the system came to mind. While the most recent student amnesty was implemented in 2018, it is also stated in the data announced by Council of Higher Education (YÖK) that there has been a noticeable increase in the number of students waiting for amnesty in the past 4 years. While around 600,000 students could benefit from the student amnesty, which was last applied in 2018, it was learned that more than 1 million students were excluded from the system in every year in the 4 years that passed since the application. With the issue of amnesty on the agenda, more than 4 million students who have been excluded from the system are waiting to benefit from the amnesty, which is expected to be released in June.
