Condemning the presence of Quran pages in the confetti thrown on the field at the opening match of the newly built New Ordu Stadium in Ordu, 'Diyanet-Sen' Chairman Mehmet Ali Güldemir said, "Those responsible must be found immediately and this beadledom must be accounted for. There is no explanation for this disrespect towards our great book, the Qur'an."
The presence of pages from the Qur'an in the confetti that was thrown onto the field during the opening match of the newly built New Ordu Stadium in Ordu caused reactions. Making a statement after the incident, 'Diyanet-Sen' Chairman Mehmet Ali Güldemir condemned the scandal and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
Pointing out that what has been done is the last limit of disrespect towards the Qur'an, Güldemir said, "The scattering of our Great Book, which contains the best examples of love and brotherhood, by making confetti is the last limit of disrespect and indifference. Those who want to disrupt the brotherhood, unity and solidarity in our country should be punished in the most severe way by making necessary investigations before they come to this game. Both this insult to our Great Book and this sabotage to our unity and solidarity should not go unpunished."
Güldemir stated that she found it pleasing that the police forces and the Ordu Governor's Office started an investigation on the issue immediately.
"We have no doubt that our police forces and state officials will do what is necessary in the face of this scandalous insult to our great book, the Qur'an. Citizens should act with common sense by protecting their common sense. We must break the game of the unbelievers before they fall for the tricks of those who want to ruin our unity and brotherhood," he added.
