Speaking in the Parliament over the budget negotiations, Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk's explanation -poverty is no longer a problem in our country- was met with surprise.

Evaluating the minister's words to our newspaper, Prof. Dr. Osman Altuğ, "In Turkey, there are those who have dry salt (rich people), there also tohse can not find some salt (poor people). There is no hunger in Turkey for rich people, there is no poverty, there is no corruption. In other words, rich one does not understand the situation of hungry one. A sultry evaluation from minister." he said.

The Economist Sevket Apuhan said, "Anyone who knows four processes can realize poverty in Turkey."

WE ASKED ECONOMISTS: "IS EXTREME POVERTY BEING OUT AS A PROBLEM IN TURKEY?"

Responding to our question, Prof. Dr. Osman Altuğ and Şevket Apuhan stated that they did not share the same opinion with Minister Selçuk.

"THAT MEANS SHE DOES NOT LOOK AT TURKEY, LOOKING AT ANOTHER COUNTRY"

In his statement to our newspaper, Prof. Dr. Osman Altuğ said that Minister Selçuk's statement was strange.

"Yet people are unhappy. Unemployment has taken its toll. 56 percent of higher education graduates are unemployed. Among those who find jobs, there are those who work outside of their field of education. If he says it means the number of ministers despite not see them that Turkey is looking to another country. Turkey is not considering another country I think. I have a Yadırgad. What is the need for this explanation?" he said.

"ANYONE WHO KNOWS FOUR OPERATIONS CAN GET IT"

Economist Şevket Apuhan evaluating the words of Minister Selçuk to our newspaper, stated that the minimum wage, hunger and poverty line is clear in Turkey.

"Poverty has not ceased to be a problem in Turkey; but if the power ceased to see poverty as a problem, that is, if power ceased to be power, we cannot say anything about it. However, the minimum wage in Turkey is also evident, hunger and poverty is also evident. Anyone who knows four processes can realize that poverty is a major problem in our country." he said.
