After the photo of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır Deputy Semra Güzel with a terrorist was revealed, the Joint Commission, consisting of the members of the Constitution and Justice commissions of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), convened extraordinarily. At the meeting, two papers demanding the lifting of Güzel's immunity are discussed. Making a statement regarding the meeting, Joint Commission Chairman Bekir Bozdağ said that it was decided to establish a preparatory commission on the subject.
“TO BE REVIEWED SEPARATELY”
Stating that the process will begin after the election of the chairman of the commission, Bozdağ said, “The reports will be examined separately and a decision will be made. A decision will be made on whether or not to lift immunity. HDP Deputy Semra Güzel can defend herself verbally or in writing, as well as any Deputy can defend herself. I hope that in about one and a half to two months, the commission will complete its work and announce its decision to the public. We will see what happens in the future.”
The Preparatory Committee consists of 5 deputies. In the commission, Ramazan Can, Abdullah Güler, Zeynep Gülyılmaz from the Justice and Development Party (AKP); Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki from HDP; Rafet Zeybek is from the Republican People’s Party (CHP).
