Mahmut Çelikus, Chairman of the Association of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (ESDER), who supported the unions in the ongoing collective negotiations between the government and civil servants and retired unions, stated that civil servants and retirees receiving salaries below the poverty line were completely justified in their requests for a raise.
Celikus, reminded that the tradesmen and craftsmen were at the top of the income of the public servants, retirees, workers and farmers, "If these four segments are in trouble, we are impressed as artisans and craftsmen," he said.
"The increase in the income of these segments directly concerns the tradesmen. The exchange of upper income groups from tradesmen is almost negligible. Our request from our government is that the unions take into consideration the proposals of the unions in the ongoing collective negotiations and give the civil servants and pensioners the rate they deserve," he added.
"40 percent of salary goes to rent"
Çelikus pointed out that 40 percent of civil servants and pensions went to house rent. Half of the salaries of civil servants and retirees are going to house rent. According to the researches, civil servants and retirees pay monthly loan installments between 250-1000 Turkish Liras. In this case, education, clothing and food costs, there is no money to live with. ESDER, just like the Yeşilçam films, officers and retirees will not wait at the entrance of the street at the beginning, will continue to provide all kinds of support to civil servants and retirees in the struggle for rights," he said.
