The dollar, which appreciated rapidly against the Turkish Lira, negatively affected imports and exports. This increase in the dollar and euro indirectly affected the tradesmen. This fluctuation in the circulation that concerns many sectors from the construction sector to the industrial, white goods to the goldsmith, broke the record all the time and was 4,847 pounds. Euro is based on the limit of 6 pounds. Day-by-day production has decreased and imports have increased steadily, and many business sectors have become dependent on the outside world. Many trades were near due to price increases in imported products, unable to do business. The purchasing power of the citizens who are in economic hardship has been weakened. After the dollar broke a record and stood at 4,847 liras, while the euro stood at the limit of 6 liras, the economy began to ring danger bells. This negative picture of the economy, it becomes relative to foreign imports almost having a hard time shopkeepers and citizens in Turkey. The increase in the market and traders who are not able to withstand the rising prices are worried that if measures are not taken and efforts to increase the purchasing power are not carried out, there will be more troubles.
Advertising agency owner Abullah T., recalling that Turkey is a country facing production, "the rise of the dollar, causing a decrease in purchasing power in the international market. Because of the decrease in the power of reception, our prices are not getting high. We are raising prices to make a profit in proportion to the increase of the dollar. This is also reflected in the consumer. Turkey abroad, many companies are turning out to be incomplete in the production, and this time also leads to rising economic problems in the exchange," he said.
Ömer Efe, who says that the rise in the dollar affects every segment, says, "Anyone who thinks that the dollar is worth 4,847 pounds does not affect me is not healthy. The whole market is the victim, the conditions are getting harder. We buy all of the products we sell in dollars or in euros. Therefore, prices are constantly increasing."
Industry tradesman Ahmet Göksu also, "I am buying and selling parts from abroad. The product I sold to 180 liras last month was 200 pounds today and I am having difficulty explaining this to the customer. Since the parts prices were high, my clients had to cut down the profits they got from labor. Because the customer asks them for these price increases. We expect this to be taken as soon as possible."
Jeweler Sami Yalçıntaş said, "The dollar automatically rises to an ounce when it rises against the lira. As the value of the ounce rises, the price of gold rises. When the price of gold rises, the buyer is cautious. Citizens are afraid of hurting because of the movement in gold and foreign exchange. Citizen has no purchasing power, the customer only asking price. The situation does not improve at all," he said.
Hüseyin B., a hardware store operator, said, "We are selling construction materials. Now, the impact of the dollar on construction materials is huge. As the cost increased, apartment sales also decreased. This situation caused the stagnation in the construction industry. The products we sell have an impact on the dollar in general. There has been a tremendous increase in iron prices in particular. I do not know what will happen in the future, but our business is low. There have been many fluctuations in the dollar for years, various measures have been tried against them, but I do not know how effective it is."
