An explosion occurred during the passage of the bus carrying the prison guards going to the prison in the Yeni Karaman Neighborhood locality of Mudanya Yolu Sanayi Street. Upon notification of the situation, many police, firefighters, AFAD and 112 Emergency Service teams were dispatched to the region.
In the incident where a prison guard on the bus was martyred, 4 personnel, 1 of whom was seriously injured, were taken to the surrounding hospitals. Other officers in the vehicle were also sent to hospitals as a precaution. Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat, who came to the scene and received information from the teams, made statements to the journalists.
Governor Canbolat shared the following information: “Unfortunately, 1 of our prison officers was martyred as a result of the explosion of an explosive, which was considered to be a hand-made explosive and could have been managed with a remote control. We have 1 seriously injured, and we have 3 light injuries. As a precaution, we sent our other friends on the bus to the hospital to check their general health. Our Ministers of Justice and Interior are also following the issue closely. They set out to come to Bursa.”
Stating that the explosion was evaluated as a terrorist attack, Canbolat said, “All our security units quickly took the area under investigation. The subject is evaluated from all aspects. We want to get a result as soon as possible.” Canbolat stated that there were approximately 30 people in the service vehicle.
