Tatar made statements at the Presidential Office in the capital Nicosia.

Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), regarding the Greek Cypriot Administration's (GCA) first talks with France on the establishment of a naval base in the city of Larnaca, he said, "France's establishment of a base in the Southern Cyprus and the USA's arming are a clear and clear violation of Cyprus' foundation agreements."

President of the TRNC Tatar stated that the Greek Cypriot administration expressed its commitment to the three agreements under the title of "Foundation, alliance and guarantees" signed by Cyprus, Turkey, England and Greece in 1960 when the "Republic of Cyprus" was established in order to provide international legitimacy.

Tatar stated that France or any other state cannot establish a base and send weapons to the island without the approval of Turkey, England and Greece.

"France's establishment of a base in the Southern Cyprus and the USA's arming are a clear and clear violation of Cyprus' foundation agreements. The Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus still claims that they are the 'Republic of Cyprus' and argues that their founding agreements are valid. Then, on the legitimate ground of this agreement, it is impossible for France to come to the South and establish a base. From a legal point of view, France should not come and establish a naval base in the Greek Cypriot Administration," Tatar added.

Ersin Tatar stated that the USA and France violated the defense and arms agreements with the Greek Cypriot Administration and the Greek Cypriots' admission to the European Union (EU) in 2004, and that they are in favor of the continuation of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Pointing out that the negotiations between the two countries to establish a naval base in Larnaca without the consent of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people are not correct, Tatar emphasized that he believes that the Greek Cypriot Administration and France will act more carefully on this issue.

Tatar pointed out that the 2 sovereign British bases on the island would be meaningless if the establishment, alliance and guarantee agreements of the Republic of Cyprus, which are also international agreements, are violated in some way,

"The violation of Cyprus' establishment, alliance and guarantee agreements also puts the sovereign British bases on the island into question. Violation of agreements here makes the situation of England troublesome," Tatar argued.
