“And we were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything. I mean literally we were just all set to get outside. And just celebrate something that was so beautiful,” Trump said in an extraordinary speech from the ceremonial East Room of the White House.
However, the election results from some key states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin were still unclear.
Trump has to get 270 electoral votes to win re-election, but the projections from major networks and Edison Research revealed that he still is short of that number.
Joe Biden has so far won 238 electoral college votes while Donald Trump is at 213.
American people are also electing members to the Senate and the House of Representatives, the main law-making bodies of the United States.
