TUIK: "Significant decline in the rate of obesity, alcohol users"

The Turkish Statistical Institute, which has been the subject of debate with the data it has announced in recent years, has this time published a research result on alcohol use.

According to the results of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), "2022 Turkey Health Survey", there has been a significant decline in the rate of obesity and the number of alcohol users in our country.
 
According to the Turkey Health Survey, the rate of obese individuals in the country was 20.2 percent last year.
 
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the results of the "2022 Turkey Health Survey".
 
Accordingly, when the body mass index calculated using the height and weight values is examined, the rate of obese individuals aged 15 and over decreased from 21.1 percent in 2019 to 20.2 percent in 2022.
 
In terms of gender, 23.6% of women were found to be "obese" and 30.9 percent were "pre-obese".
 
For men, these rates were determined as 16.8 percent and 40.4 percent, respectively. When the most common types of diseases in children aged 0-6 years were examined in the last 6 months, upper respiratory tract infection ranked first with 31.3 percent in 2022.
 
This was followed by diarrhea with 29.4 percent and lower respiratory tract infection with 6.9 percent. In the same year, upper respiratory tract infections were the most common in children aged 7-14, with 27.1 percent.
 
This was followed by diarrhea with 19.8 percent and oral and dental health problems with 11.2%.
 
When the types of diseases seen in individuals aged 15 and over in the last 12 months are examined, lumbar region problems ranked first with 29.7% in 2019 and 24.6% in 2022.
 
Back problems were followed by neck problems with 17.2 percent. These were followed by hypertension with 16.1 percent, diabetes with 11.4 percent and allergies with 9.6 percent, respectively.
 
While the rate of individuals aged 15 and over who use tobacco every day was 28 percent in 2019, it increased to 28.3 percent in 2022.
 
This rate was calculated as 41.3 percent for men and 15.5 percent for women last year.
 
The rate of individuals who do not use tobacco products (quit and never use) decreased from 68.7 percent in 2019 to 68 percent in 2022.
 

THE RATE OF INDIVIDUALS WHO USE ALCOHOL DECREASED

 
In the last 12 months, the rate of individuals aged 15 and over who used alcohol decreased from 14.9% in 2019 to 12.1% in 2022.
 
This rate was determined as 18.4 percent for men and 5.9 percent for women last year.
 
The rate of individuals who do not use alcohol (previously and never) increased from 85.1% in 2019 to 87.9% in 2022.
 
In the last 12 months, the proportion of individuals who received at least one night inpatient treatment at the hospital was 10.8 percent in 2019, decreasing to 9.7 percent in 2022. This rate was determined as 8.7 percent for men and 10.7 percent for women in 2022.
 

THE MOST USED PROTECTIVE SERVICE BLOOD MEASURING

 
In the last 12 months, the rate of individuals aged 15 and over who had their blood pressure measured decreased from 50.8% in 2019 to 44.7% in 2022.
 
The rate of those who had their cholesterol measured last year was 39.6 percent, and the rate of those who had their blood sugar measured was 41.6 percent.
