The statement of the Board of Presidents of Türk-İş Confederation, which came together before the Minimum Wage Determination Commission held on Wednesday, was shared with the public. It was stated that the work of Minimum Wage Determination Commission will be evaluated by the Türk-İş Board of Directors and the Board of Presidents and a decision will be made according to the developments. In the statement, which drew attention to the fact that the living conditions of Türk-İş should be taken into account in the process of determining the minimum wage, it was stated that the living conditions of the employees were revealed through the studies carried out for 35 years. It was stated that the minimum wage to be determined by the Board of Presidents of Türk-İş will ensure a decent life and that it is necessary to increase its resistance against inflation with the addition of welfare share. It was also underlined that the work of the Minimum Wage Determination Committee would be evaluated by the Türk-İş Board of Directors and the Board of Presidents, and a decision would be made according to the developments.
“EMERGENCY REGULATIONS MUST BE MADE TO AVOID THE LOSS OF WORKERS' INCOME”
In the statement, which stated that the only income of most of the workers was the minimum wage, it was stated that the exclusion of the minimum wage from tax was provided by the common demand, and it was underlined that the tax problem continued to be burning for the wage earners. Expressing that wage earners are crushed under a serious tax burden in terms of direct income and indirect income, “The current tariffs and rates in the taxation of wages make the employees aggrieved. The net wages of the workers at the beginning of the year are gradually decreasing in the following months due to the regulation in tax brackets. For this reason, wage increases obtained through collective bargaining agreements lose their meaning. Türk-İş Confederation Board of Presidents urgently demands that regulations be made to prevent the income loss of workers due to taxation,” the statement said.
“CONTRACTED WORKER AND TEMPORARY WORKER ISSUES SHOULD BE RESOLVED ASAP”
In the statement, which stated that subcontracted worker problem in the public sector should be resolved first, it was stated that “Primarily State Economic Enterprises (KİT), private budget organizations, service procurement, consultancy and procurement of goods and similar tenders, workers in places where the labor cost is below 70 percent, hospital information system, hospital sterilization services, call central services and non-public family health workers should also be evaluated within this scope. Likewise, municipal company workers should be permanently recruited and given personal rights. The issue of the 'temporary worker', which is an ongoing problem in working life, should now be resolved,” the statement added.
