Turkey, by far the leader in food inflation

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) shared the food inflation rates by country as of October. Turkey, where food inflation reached 99 percent on an annual basis, became the leader by far.

Among OECD countries, after Turkey with 99 percent and Hungary with 42,9 percent, the countries with the highest food inflation were Lithuania, where prices increased by 33,7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and Latvia, which increased by 29,5 percent. The lowest food inflation among OECD countries was seen in Israel with 4 percent, Switzerland with 4,2 percent and Japan with 6,4 percent. Among the major countries; Food inflation was 19,2 percent in Germany, 16,4 percent in the United Kingdom, 12,9 percent in France and 12,4 percent in the USA. While the average food inflation rate in the European Union countries was 17,3 percent, this value was 12,7 percent in the G7 countries. 
 

TURKISH HONEY SAVES $41,5 MILLION IN 11 MONTHS 

 
Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKİB), said that 15,564 tons of honey was exported from the country in 11 months. Pointing out that 41 million 503 thousand dollars have been gained from the said export, Kalyoncu said that exports are 25 million 868 thousand 225 dollars in return for 8 thousand 120 tons of honey. According to the same period of last year, the amount of income in dollars increased by 92 percent and revenue by 60 percent. Kalyoncu stated that the USA, Spain and Germany are the 3 countries that sell the most honey, adding that 15 million 990 thousand dollars of honey was exported to the USA, 6 million 672 thousand dollars to Spain and 5 million 58 thousand dollars to Germany. Kalyoncu stated that 1 million 585 thousand dollars worth of honey was exported from the Eastern Black Sea Region in this period, and the USA was the leader in the region's exports. Reminding that there is a short time until the end of the year, Kalyoncu said, “We believe that our Turkish honey exports will meet our year-end expectations. In this context, I hope we will finish the year with very good figures.”
