The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned North Korea's ballistic missile test in a written statement released Saturday, saying that it violated U.N. resolutions.

"We condemn the ballistic missile launch conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on 28 July 2017," the statement said, adding that North Korea continued to "flagrantly violate U.N. Security Council resolutions and to disregard its international obligations" with its second ballistic missile test conducted in the past month.

The foreign ministry also urged North Korea to abide by the U.N. Security Council resolutions in order to prevent escalation in the region.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced Saturday that the country's second flight test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was an evidence they could hit the U.S. mainland.

Hours after the latest ICBM launch, analysts concluded that a wide part of the United States, including Los Angeles and Chicago, could be in range of North Korean weapons, media sources reported.
