Turkey on Monday decided to remove three northern Iraq-based television channels -- K24 TV, WAAR TV and Rudaw TV -- from its satellite Turksat, an official said.
The decision was taken after the three channels called some parts of southeastern and eastern Turkey as “northern Kurdistan” in their television broadcast, a Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council’s (RTUK) official, who asked not
to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
The channels did not have license from RTUK and they were broadcasting the transmission using the license obtained from Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, he added.
If the channels do not correct the aforementioned violations in 48 hours, their broadcast will be cut, the official added.
