The Greeks, who have always felt enmity towards the Turks with their grudge from history, have institutionalized this hatred after they succeeded in establishing their state.

We see that Greece, which has displayed an opposite attitude to Turkey on various issues since the establishment of its states, maintains its hostile attitude today.

While Turkey and Greece are facing an existential equation, it is possible to list the problems between the two countries under five main headings:

The persecution of the Turks of Western Thrace, the Patriarchate issue, the Cyprus problem, the arrogant attitudes of Greece within the scope of the Aegean islands and the struggle in the Eastern Mediterranean…

Greece, which is among the actors who aim to isolate Turkey from the region in the energy sharing struggle in the Eastern Mediterranean, is making allegations against international law. Trying to take extremely harmful steps for Turkey, Greece is making a mockery of the imperialist powers in the region.

Preventing the harmful steps of Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean stands as a great necessity for the future of our country.

As we mentioned in our article series, Greece, which we are facing with various problems, is on the opposite side of Turkey in the struggle for the Eastern Mediterranean.

Playing the role of the imperialist actors in the region, the Greeks take part in the project of confining Turkey to a narrow area in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Acting with the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCA) and the occupying Israeli regime among the actors in the region, Greece also receives support from France and the USA, which are located outside the region. Greece is also trying to steer the European Union to gain maximum benefit in the region.

GREECE AFTER DANGEROUS OBJECTIVES

Greece, which is one of the main causes of the problems in the Eastern Mediterranean, advocates drawing the EEZ border with the Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus, Egypt and Libya, based on the line connecting the islands of Crete, Kasot, Kerpe and Meis.

It seems that if Greece realizes its plans, Turkey will be imprisoned in the Gulf of Antalya. In addition, Greece wants to reach a large EEZ area by increasing its territorial waters. It is also known that the extension of Greece's territorial waters to twelve miles means a reason for war for Turkey.

NO PLACE IN INTERNATIONAL LAW

Greece's effort to create an extra EEZ area by accepting the islands in the Aegean Sea as the mainland has no equivalent in international law. While Greece is taking steps illegally, it is also trying to use the island of Meis, which is five hundred and eighty kilometers away from the mainland of Greece. By claiming the continental shelf of Meis Island, which is only two kilometers from the mainland of Turkey and has a population of about five hundred people, Athens aims to have an additional area of tens of thousands of square kilometers. Turkey responds to Greece's theses by reminding the principle of equity in the law of the sea and states that the aims of Greece are unacceptable.

GREEKS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE AGREEMENT WE MADE WITH LIBYA

It is known that Greece is greatly disturbed by the Maritime Jurisdiction Delimitation Agreement that Turkey signed with the Libyan Government of National Accord on November 27, 2019. With the aforementioned agreement, Turkey's declaration that it considers the area south of Crete and Rhodes islands as a continental shelf and that it registered this thesis with the UN also blocked the claims of Greece extending to the island of Cyprus. While the Athens administration argues that the agreement between Ankara and Tripoli is 'illegal', there are statements of support for Greece from the EU.

GREECE CREATING THE HOT WAR

The activities of Greece, which wants to strike a blow to Turkey's legitimate rights in the Eastern Mediterranean and tries to take steps against international law in this direction, are escalating the tension in the region. Greece, which has provoked the Greek Cypriot Administration and the European Union, of which it is a member, against Turkey, is doing its best to press Turkey in the international arena. In line with all these reasons, there is a possibility of a hot war between Turkey and Greece, as never before in recent history. So much so that this possibility is also mentioned in international media. While trying to seize the energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean in violation of international law, Greece is seriously arming.
