Turkey is going backwards in animal husbandry day by day! Due to the wrong policies implemented, the country became dependent on imports for livestock.
While the country's resources are wasted with insufficient and unplanned supports, it causes billions of dollars to be transferred abroad with imports.
Former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, who was dismissed, stated that the import of livestock will continue partially until 2022 and that the country's needs will be met with its own production as of 2022, and the import gates will be closed on the condition that they never open again.
Despite the official statement of the Ministry of Agriculture, the facts were not so! While there was no increase in the number of livestock in the country, but it decreased, the button was pressed again for the importation of livestock.
While the Ministry started the studies for the import of livestock in June in order to take precautions against a possible danger in the meat supply, these studies have come to an end.
Although Bekir Pakdemirli declared that the number of animals in the country is increasing gradually and that Turkey will no longer need to import livestock after 2022, at the point reached, many enterprises have withdrawn from production, and many of them are working at half capacity, as it is said, there is no increase in the number of animals in the country, on the contrary, there is no need to import livestock. It shows that it's going backwards.
85 MILLION CITIZENS TO PAY THE IMPORTS BILL
Although the number of animals in the country has not increased, it has been shown that it has increased for years, while the problems have been covered up for years, and at this point, the country has been condemned to re-import.
When Bekir Pakdemirli is dismissed, the citizens of the country will pay the bill of the wrong policies applied as 85 million!
150,000 FEEDING ANIMALS WILL BE IMPORTED FROM EUROPE, SOUTH AMERICA!
Two-thirds of the 150,000 head of livestock is planned to be imported from South America and one-third from Europe. The average kg price of livestock to be made from South America is 3.70 dollars, and the price of kg of livestock to be imported from Europe is around 4.10 Euros.
Considering that the average livelihood weight of the livestock to be imported will be 350 kg, each animal will be imported from South America for 23,000 liras and from Europe for 26,000 liras.
If the average per animal is calculated from 25,000 liras, approximately 200 million dollars will be paid for 150,000 head imports.
THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO BE COVERED IN THE TERM OF THE NEW MINISTER!
While the problems experienced in livestock continued to be covered up in the new Minister Vahit Kirişci's term, on the other hand, the import studies show that no lessons have been learned from the mistakes made.
MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE FORESES A SERIOUS DIFFICULTY IN MEAT SUPPLY IN 6-8 MONTHS!
The Ministry of Agriculture predicts that there will be a large deficit in red meat in the next 6-8 months due to the gradual decrease in livestock.
In an environment where meat consumption has decreased by 30 to 40 percent due to the economic crisis, the projection of a shortage in the country's meat supply also reveals how the country is in a problem in animal husbandry.
MİLLİ GAZETE ANNOUNCED ITS IMPORT STUDIES IN JUNE!

While the news of livestock imports drew a reaction in the sector, it was meaningful that the ministry could not deny this news.
