Turkey has killed 837 terrorists since the start of the year, the military announced Tuesday.
The majority -- 431 -- were killed in Turkey, the military said in a statement. They are likely to mostly be PKK terrorists.
The remaining 406 were killed outside Turkey’s borders, most of them likely casualties in Operation Euphrates Shield in Syria, which ended March 29.
The military said it had captured 82 terrorists inside Turkey. In addition, it said 157 PKK terrorists surrendered.
These operations led to the capture of weaponry including 61 machine guns, 38 sniper rifles, 122 grenade launchers and anti-tank weapons as well as more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition.
The statement also said large amounts of PKK weapon and ammunition dumps were destroyed.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
