Turkish security forces neutralized 80 terrorists nationwide in the aftermath of operations carried out between Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, according to an official statement released by the interior ministry.
A total of 1,476 operations were carried out by the Special Operations Gendarmerie (JÖH), Gendarmerie Commando Units and Internal Security forces in the past week alone.
A total of 4,459 suspects were taken into custody, 974 of whom were found to harbor or provide assistance to terrorists; 3,350 for drug and trafficking offences; and 153 for migration related offences. The detained suspects were linked to various terrorist organizations, including Daesh, Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ), Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Democratic Union Party (PYD) and Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK).
Sixty-eight terrorists killed
Among the terrorists neutralized across the country last week, 68 were killed, six were captured alive and six surrendered themselves to the authorities.
A large number of weapons and ammunitions seized
As a result of the operations, 47 shelters, shelters and caves across provinces - Diyarbakır, Bitlis, Tunceli, Mardin and Erzincan - were rendered unusable. A total of 637 kilograms of explosives; four tons of winter rations; 36 weapons, including 23 heavy and long-barreled automatic rifles; 16 hand grenades; and 1,572 ammunition of different types were seized.
Nationwide drug operations
A total of 2,508 drug operations were conducted across 77 provinces. Throughout these operations, 1,263 kilograms of marijuana with a market value of TL 17,490,530; 237 kilograms of heroin; 2.67 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoid (bonzai); one kilogram of opium gum; three kilograms of methamphetamine; 1.61 kilograms of cocaine; 24,254 opiate drug pills; and 9,612 root cannabis plants were seized.
Additionally, 798,979 illegal cigarettes with a market value of TL 5,865,093 and 57,430 liters of fuel were also seized. Under the scope of the drug operations, 3,350 suspects were taken into custody.
