Religous Officials Union "Diyanet-Sen" Chairman Ali Yıldız reacted harshly to psychologist Üstün Dökmen's baseless words about the headscarved women.
Reminding Dökmen's word "It is against professional ethics to be a headscarved psychologist, headscarved psychiatrist, headscarved PDR specialist. They cannot be neutral," Yıldız reacted as follows:
"Actually, you and those who think like you cannot be neutral, leaving aside the subconscious hostility to the headscarf. You are still saying that this profession can be done while wearing a headscarf, this profession cannot be done. First you clean the inside of your brain, break down your walls. You do not want to realize that it is not possible to put the headscarf in the same basket with the necklace with the cross sign and evaluate it as a religious symbol and say that I will take it off while performing my profession and then wear it. Please empathize with women who wear the headscarf as a part of their faith. This belief covers all areas of life. It is not a necklace with a pilgrimage sign, so you cannot say that I should wear it suitable for this environment, not suitable for this profession."
“IT IS THE WORTS TO BE MENTIONED BY A PROFESSOR”
Stating that these discriminatory statements were expressed by a psychologist with the title of professor, Yıldız said, "We have had women in this country who were not examined by doctors who had an ideological approach for years because they were wearing headscarves. We had brothers who were kicked out of class and humiliated by their teachers. We want to leave all these processes behind and unite on the human denominator to be blessed to serve humanity and all creatures and to do useful works. The refrain that this profession cannot be done with a headscarf, and one cannot enter here with a headscarf, unfortunately, is nothing but the manifested hostility to the headscarf. Moreover, it is a tragicomic situation that a headscarved psychologist and psychiatrist can not be neutral when expressed by a psychologist."
