The luggage of German passengers coming from the country were searched by sniffer dogs at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on Tuesday, in retaliation to the harassment of Turkish passengers who were body-searched by police dogs at Munich Airport.
After German passengers coming from the northwestern city Bremen arrived at Atatürk Airport at around 10:00 p.m. and went through passport control, their luggage was searched on the baggage carousel in the customs area by sniffer dogs. Police officers checked each bag carefully.
Austrian passengers also searched by dogs
Passengers of Turkish Airlines were body searched by police dogs at an Austria’s Schwechat Airport on Oct. 13., and passengers en route to Vienna were body-searched by dogs at Atatürk Airport, as part of the principle of reciprocity.
